Finance Committee – Collection Counters needed

2018 begins a new season of the Finance Committee, which monitors St. Stephen’s budget and manages Diocesan reporting, auditing and day-to-day financial matters of the church. Members include: Edward Lasseigne (Treasurer), Mikalene Guiser (Chair), Cynthia Whitacre, Louise Bishop, Wayne Sheppard and Bernie Castell. If you have an interest in Finance, meetings are held at church the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm.

Finance is looking for an additional volunteer to count the collection. With a partner on an assigned Sunday after the 10:30 am service, you document the weekly collection by copying checks, counting money and making the bank deposit. If you’re interested in learning more, or getting trained to be an assigned or alternate counter please contact Mikalene at mguiser@hotmail.com

DSO Big Read – Week 29

There are 3 opportunities to engage with the Exodus journey. Each begins with a very interesting video clip produced here in the diocese by people you may know as they show us what Exodus means to them where they are. Where will the road take you? Read below for dates and times:

 NSI Collections for March:

Trade-In Bake Sale Continues

Collection for Easter:  Mac n’ Cheese

Current Mac n’ Cheese Count:  234

Last Sunday to bring in to church:  March 18th

Last day for drop-off at NSI:  Thursday, March 22nd

The children will continue collecting personal items not covered by SNAP/EBT (toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, etc.) for the Trade-In Bake Sale, where parishioners “trade-in” personal items for baked goods. Collecting personal care items will continue through the rest of March.

As a reminder, this Sunday is our fourth Trade-In Bale Sale Sunday. Thank you so much to those who have brought in non-food items for the NSI Food Pantry, and for those who have brought in healthy foods to share after our service. Louise Bishop has provided wonderful and nutritious treats for the past two Sundays, and Edward Lasseigne provided an artisan bread with cheese on our first Sunday, so a big thank you to them both!

 BREAD Update

Nehemiah Action May 7th

BREAD… rises!

52 … 1! This is one of the BREAD cheers. It reflects the idea that we need to turn out as many people at the Nehemiah Action – that ONE night when we stand for social justice in our community, as we turn out on 52 Sundays a year. The St. Stephen’s BREAD team chose 65 people as our goal. Mark your calendar for Monday evening May 7, and expect to be contacted by one of the members of our parish Justice Ministry Network to support the work of BREAD.

 From your B.R.E.A.D. team:

Rae Fellows, Kaethe Sandman, Norm Wernet and Mignonne Whitlow
