Thank you from Jeff Watters

To the congregants, families, and friends of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church:

In the past year I have left the two staff positions of AWAKE children’s coordinator (August, 2017) and sexton (April, 2018).

I served as the AWAKE coordinator for eleven years, and as sexton for a little more than seven years. I resigned both because I had done each long enough. I didn’t plan on being in those positions as long as I was. But, I loved my church and my community. I have always felt, since I began attending in November of 2003, that St. Stephens was a place of worship and service that was open to all people being loved by God. I still believe that and I always will.

I am very grateful for the recognition and the generous offering that has come my way these last few weeks. The potluck dinner on April 29 was beyond words; many thanks to the children who shared during the presentation (including some ‘children’ who are now adults!). Thank you to everyone who brought food, and especially the many different choices of food. Thank you most of all, for everyone who came. I am still emotionally moved by such an event.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered and assisted in all the programming and work that I have been involved with at St. Stephens. It has been fun and fulfilling.

See you at church.

Much love,

Jeff Watters

 BREAD Update

The BREAD team attended the team assembly on Monday June 4 to discuss the forward momentum of the group’s efforts and the summer fundraising season.

Summer is the time for BREAD to promote investment in the organization. Financial support of BREAD is not a donation, but an investment. A donation is given with nothing expected in return; an investment in BREAD offers a return in the positive outcomes for our community: safer neighborhoods, better schools, jobs for returned citizens, legal identification for everyone.

The BREAD team has personally committed to invest almost $2000 this year because we believe in the power of this group of people to effect real change in our community. We invite you to join us in this investment. You may write a check payable to BREAD and drop it in the St. Stephen’s offering, and it will get to the right place.

From your B.R.E.A.D. team:

Rae Fellows, Kaethe Sandman, Norm Wernet and Mignonne Whitlow
