Want to keep pushing for more affordable housing? Our housing committee hasn’t stopped. As noted on Tuesday, we have more work to do – especially as we tackle the racial inequities that we see in the lack of affordable housing. Check out the BREAD website for more on the details mentioned on Tuesday. Also, here is a step you can take now from our partners at the Affordable Housing Alliance: “We know that we are on the cusp of an eviction crisis that will further upend Franklin County’s families and our economy. This will disproportionately harm Black households. The magnitude of that crisis is projected to dwarf the number of foreclosures witnessed during the Great Recession. But you have the power to stop it. Please take a moment to call Senator Portman or your U.S. House of Representatives member and ask them to support emergency rent relief for unemployed workers. We can’t build a platform for long-term equity if we’re facing mass displacement and homelessness in the short-term.”
Don’t forget! BREAD’s Celebration will take place on Monday, August 17th, at 7:00 pm on Zoom! We’ll send the link as we get closer! You won’t want to miss it!
